Yesterday, Dodge launched the 2019 Challenger Hellcat Redeye, boasting the most powerful production V8 engine — 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque — and the quickest muscle-car speed, with 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and a 203 mph top speed. But you know that already; what of the other Challengers?
First, of course, the “ordinary” Hellcat, shown above, was boosted to 717 horsepower and 656 pound-feet. But there’s more; all Hellcats get the dual-snorkel hood shown above, inspired by the 1970 Dart Swinger and 1971 Demon. The Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody takes the Demon’s fender flares, which add 3.5 inches to its width, so it can run fatter tires — to make for better launches and faster real-world acceleration; the stock tires are 305/35ZR20 Pirellis on 20×11 wheels. What’s more, all the Scat Packs (which are 392-powered) get the old Hellcat hood. Finally, the Challenger R/T and GT RWD are getting a standard high-performance suspension.
Dodge is, in short, making its lineup ever-more muscular.
